Energy efficiency upgrades at home for 24% of people
The largest shares of people living in dwellings with improved energy efficiency were recorded in the Netherlands (60.5%), Denmark (34.0%), France and Slovenia (both 33.3%). The lowest shares were in Italy (2.6%), Malta (7.8%) and Greece (9.5%).
People at risk of poverty or social exclusion were less likely to report living in dwellings with improved energy efficiency (17.4%) compared with those not at risk (25.6%).
The difference was most pronounced in the Netherlands (45.3% vs 63.3%), Cyprus (16.7% vs 30.3%) and Denmark (22.9% vs 36.4%).

Methodological note
Dwellings with energy efficiency improvements in the last 5 years show the extent to which residential properties have undergone renovations to enhance energy performance. This includes all measures that impact the thermal conditions of the dwelling. Key renovation activities covered by this indicator are: the upgrading of thermal insulation in external walls, roofs, or floors; the replacement of single-glazed windows with double or triple-glazed units; and the installation of more efficient heating systems.
